Farid Academy, an Egyptian startup specializing in educational technology and character development for children and adolescents, has officially been granted the “Startup Label” under Egypt’s National Startup Charter. This designation makes Farid the first EdTech firm in the country to receive the prestigious status, cementing its role as an innovation leader at the intersection of digital education and mental wellbeing.

    National Definition of Startups

The certification was awarded by the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA). It follows a rigorous vetting process to ensure compliance with the unified national definition of startups, a government initiative designed to bolster the local entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The accreditation grants Farid access to specialized regulatory eased-measures, streamlined digital government services, and a suite of incentives tailored to accelerate the growth of high-potential ventures.

A Specialized Model for Social-Emotional Learning

Founded in 2024 by entrepreneur Mahmoud Hussein, Farid Academy utilizes an innovative “One-to-One” live coaching model. Targeting youth aged 3 to 18, the platform focuses on Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), psychological resilience, and life skills.

Farid stands out in the MENA region by pivoting away from mass-content delivery in favor of personalized, high-impact sessions. This bespoke approach is designed to foster sustainable psychological and social growth for each student.

Furthermore, the platform offers professional certification programs for young adults and graduates, training them in the “Farid Methodology” to build a specialized workforce of character development coaches.

    Regional Expansion and Strategic Growth

The company’s ambitions extend beyond Egypt’s borders. Last year, Farid inaugurated a regional office in Riyadh, serving as a regional hub for its Saudi Arabian operations. This move is part of a broader strategy to localize educational and psychological content for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) markets while forging deep partnerships with local schools and institutions.

    Multi-Channel Business Model

Farid operates through a diversified, multi-channel business model to maximize its social reach:

    • Direct-to-Consumer (B2C): Personalized digital coaching for children and families.

    • Business-to-Business (B2B): Partnerships with private schools to integrate character-building curricula.

    • Business-to-Government (B2G): Collaborations with public entities on national youth development initiatives.

    • Non-Profit Sector (B2NGO): Joint ventures with NGOs to deliver community-based training for underserved families.

    Vision 2030: Empowering a Generation

“At Farid, we believe a child’s mental health and character are just as vital as their academic achievement,” said Mahmoud Hussein, Founder and CEO. “Securing the Startup Label is a strategic milestone in our journey to build a leading Arabic platform that prepares a more conscious, confident generation capable of navigating future challenges.”

Hussein added that the company is currently refining a scalable digital model that harmonizes technology with human-centric coaching to ensure a profound impact on the lives of Arab youth.

    Ambitious Targets

Looking ahead, Farid has set ambitious targets for 2030. The startup aims to empower 10 million children and adolescents across the Arab world and build a “professional army” of 10,000 certified coaches trained in its methodology, seeking to create a supportive environment for the social and psychological advancement of Middle Eastern societies.
