Huawei is celebrating 25 years of innovation and partnership in Egypt with a grand ceremony at the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM)—a symbolic location that beautifully bridges Egypt’s rich past with its digital future. At the event, following the Grand museum’s opening, where the world marveled at the grandeur of Egypt’s history, Huawei reflected on its past contributions and growth, while keeping an eye on the future, where technology is enabling progress and helping to build an intelligent, more connected Egypt.

The celebration was attended by H.E. Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology and Dr. Mohamed Shaker, former Minister of Electricity; His Excellency Mr. Zhang Yaqiang, Minister Plenipotentiary of the Chinese Embassy in Egypt, Eng. Raafat Hindi, Deputy Minister of Communications and Information Technology for Infrastructure Development and Digital Transformation in Egypt, and Dr. Ahmed Khattab, Director of the National Telecommunications Institute. The event also gathered senior government officials, industry leaders, and partners along with Huawei’s executives from Egypt and across the region. Thishigh-level presence underscores Huawei’s long-standing collaboration with the Egyptian government in driving progress across the country’s ICT ecosystem.

At the beginning of his speech, H.E. Dr. Amr Talaat, Minister of Communications and Information Technology, congratulated Huawei on its 25th anniversary in Egypt, emphasizing that this milestone reflects the growth potential of Egypt’s ICT sector.

Dr. Talaat explained that the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology has launched a wide range of free digital capacity-building initiatives targeting various segments of society. He noted that in the past fiscal year, around 500,000 trainees received training across different ICT specializations, and that the goal for the current fiscal year is to further increase the number of trainees, deepen specialization, and expand target groups. He also highlighted that Huawei is a key partner in several training initiatives launched by the Ministry.

Mr. Benjamin Hou, CEO of Huawei Egypt, said: “Over the past 25 years, Huawei Egypt has been proud to contribute to the country’s digital transformation journey and it’s Vision 2030. Guided by our commitment to ‘In Egypt, For Egypt,’ we have worked alongside the Egyptian government, private sector, and local partners to build a robust ICT infrastructure that drives innovation, sustainability, and inclusive growth. As we look ahead, Huawei remains dedicated to accelerating Egypt’s digital future — fostering an intelligent, sustainable, and connected ecosystem that creates greater value Egyptand its people.”

For the past 25 years, Huawei has been a key partner in Egypt’s digital transformation. Through its advanced ICT technologies, Huawei has played a key role in advancing the nation’s digital infrastructure—spanning telecom networks, cloud services, and enabling progress across key enterprise sectors such as education, healthcare, transportation, energy, and finance.

A landmark achievement in this journey was the establishment of Egypt’s first Public Cloud node in Cairo, ensuring data sovereignty and safeguarding the nation’s digital future within its borders. With a strong commitment to sustainability, Huawei is also focused on creating energy-efficient solutions that help Egypt reduce its carbon footprint while supporting the growth of its expanding digital infrastructure.

Huawei has worked closely with key partners, including the Ministries of Communication and Information Technology, Higher Education, and Labor, as well as institutions like the National Telecommunication Institute (NTI) and the Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA). Together, these collaborations have helped nurture the next generation of Egyptian talent, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in the digital economy. To date, Huawei has established 164 ICT academies, training over 60,000 young people and more than 1,700 instructors.

Huawei remains steadfast in its commitment to Egypt’s ongoing digital transformation. Its vision for the future is built around the 3 principles of New Value, New Infrastructure, and New Ecosystem, driven by five inclusive initiatives: Inclusive Connectivity, Education, Government Services, Security, and Energy. By integrating cutting-edge technologies such as AI and cloud into Egypt’s infrastructure, and fostering a collaborative ecosystem of partners, customers, and talent, Huawei is helping to create a digitally inclusive and intelligent future for Egypt.
