Apple has officially launched the new iPad Air, now powered by the M3 chip, enhancing its performance and capabilities. This latest model marks the first time Apple’s advanced graphics architecture has been integrated into the iPad Air, offering significant improvements in speed and efficiency.
What Is M3 Chip?
The M3 chip is Apple’s latest custom-designed processor, part of their M-series lineup, which is specifically built for Mac and iPad devices. The M3 chip utilizes a more advanced architecture, typically featuring a combination of high-performance and high-efficiency cores to optimize power consumption and performance. It is also designed to offer significant performance improvements over its predecessors (like the M1 and M2 chips). It typically includes enhancements in CPU and GPU capabilities, making it suitable for demanding tasks such as graphics-intensive applications, gaming, and content creation.
With the M3 chip, the iPad Air is nearly twice as fast as its predecessor with the M1 chip and up to 3.5 times faster than the model with the A14 Bionic chip. This performance boost allows users to create content and play demanding games more efficiently than ever before. The iPad Air is available in two sizes: an 11-inch model, ideal for portability, and a larger 13-inch version for those needing more screen space.
Prices Range
The new iPad Air starts at $599 for the 11-inch model and $799 for the 13-inch model, maintaining a competitive price point. For educational customers, the starting prices are even lower at $549 and $749, respectively. Pre-orders for the iPad Air with M3 and the new Magic Keyboard started on Tuesday, with availability set for March 12.

Updates on iPad
In addition to the iPad Air, Apple announced updates to the standard iPad, now featuring double the starting storage and powered by the A16 chip, which delivers a nearly 30% performance boost compared to the previous generation.
Apple continues to focus on sustainability, with the new iPad Air made from 100% recycled aluminum and featuring renewable materials, as part of its commitment to becoming carbon neutral by 2030.
